Founding Director, The Urban Clinic

head the The Urban Clinic in Jerusalem, where we develop tools for more equitable cities, especially in community development, urban regeneration, and, of course, placemaking. We learn alongside local and international practitioners, 'co-producing knowledge' for local implementation. Fabulous placemaking sessions with PPS have sparked great projects.
I am a faculty member at Hebrew University and teach housing policy and strategic planning in the graduate program in urban planning.
On placemaking, I'd especially like to hear and talk about placemaking in self-built areas, places with very little formal public space, placemaking as part of community based tourism, and placemaking in areas where religion and/or ideology don't encourage play or even social mixing.
We have worked extensively on urban planning for child-friendly neighborhoods with the Bernard Van Leer Foundation's Urban 95 program, , including developing graduate student courses, and it would be great to talk about that!
